Chamber of Commerce Committees

The NVCC offers a wide variety of opportunities for you to get involved and share your talents and interest with other members. Committee involvement is a proven way to get the most out of your membership. If you would like to join or learn more about any of the committees listed below, please contact the chair or staff person associated with it.

Ambassadors
The mission of the Ambassador Team is to inform members, especially new and inactive ones, through delivery of new member packets and invitations to upcoming Chamber events. To aid in retention of current members by providing feedback to the Chamber staff and Board of Directors regarding needs and issues of concern to members through completion of survey forms. To encourage member involvement on committees or chamber functions.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is focused on all aspects of Chamber communications, messaging and outreach. We believe that we can do a better job of reaching out and engaging our members through our traditional channels, but also through better use of social media, video and other methods. We are also beginning a re-branding initiative for the organization.

Education and Business Committee (EBC)
The Education and Business Committee promotes learning within the schools and community to ensure all students, parents and business partners have the experience, knowledge, values and opportunities to succeed in the workforce and contribute positively to the community.

Governance Committee
The Governance Committee is responsible for ongoing review and recommendations to enhance the quality and future viability of the board. It focuses on the following six areas, with specific duties dependent on board needs at any specific time: Board roles and responsibilities, composition, knowledge, effectiveness, leadership and ongoing by-law review.

Government Affairs Committee
The mission of the Government Affairs Committee of the Neponset Valley Chamber of Commerce is to review pending legislation and regulations for their impact on the membership, develop positions that will enhance economic growth, and develop programs that inform and encourage members to participate in the Chamber's government affairs initiatives.

Elder Care Alliance
The Eldercare Alliance's goal is to educate and inform Chamber members along with the community at large on issues affecting elders and those who care for them. We achieve this by hosting quarterly forums. Examples of past forums include: Caregiving and Employment: Can You Do Both?; When to Collect Social Security?; Cardiac Wellness As We Age; Reducing Holiday Stress.

Human Resources Alliance
The Human Resource Alliance meets monthly to discuss employment and workplace issues and best practices and uses its collective knowledge and expertise to identify, coordinate and deliver relevant programs in areas of human resource management most impactful to chamber members and individuals charged with the responsibility for human resources. The HRLC is also responsible for hosting and coordinating the annual NVCC Employment Law Seminar for the benefit of all chamber members.

Neponset Valley Young Professionals
The Neponset Valley Young Professional’s mission is to foster an innovative environment that allows those who live, work, and play within the region to achieve and exceed personal and professional goals. We do so by providing employers and individuals with the resources necessary to cultivate the Neponset Valley workforce and encourage our members to become active participants in the community.

Women’s Leadership Alliance
The Women’s Leadership Alliance has the following Mission: to educate, promote, facilitate and explore women’s development in business, and provide a forum for networking
Their objectives are to:
• Generate revenue/margin for NVCC
• Develop a new avenue for retaining women NVCC members
• Provide career development opportunities (mentoring, personal branding)
• Act as a link for professional women in the Neponset Valley area
